Pasta Berruto and the environment

Our company’s production activity has always been characterized by its low-impact on the environment. The dry pasta production process is extremely simple and requires very few raw materials which are mainly semolina and water.
The main emissions to the atmosphere are made of water vapour originated by the drying process of the pasta. The industrial waste is mainly “clean” water used for the cooling process of pasta.

The company is currently evaluating a recycling system of the cooling water in order to further reduce the waste of this every day more precious resource.

Pasta Berruto S.p.A., always environmentally oriented, has been equipped since the year 2000 with a cogeneration technology for the production of sustainable energy. Our system makes use of a gas motor that produces electric energy and thermal energy (reutilized from the gas combustion cycle).
This system allows great energy conservation and a excellent sustainability from the environment point of view. 

Pasta Berruto is also evaluating proposals regarding the installation of photovoltaic panels in order to supplement its own energetic needs through electricity produced by renewable, non-polluting energy sources.

Moreover, the company is extremely careful in terms of the disposal of its packaging material and also cooperates with the CONAI Association.
